FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT OUR TERRIER PUPPIES

  1. What vaccinations and veterinary care do the puppies receive before entering their new homes?
All puppies receive their first set of vaccinations, deworming treatments, and a thorough veterinary health check before leaving our care. We also provide a health guarantee and vaccination records for new owners.
  2. How do you socialize your puppies to ensure they are well-adjusted when they join their new families?
We begin socializing our puppies from a young age by exposing them to various sights, sounds, and experiences. This includes interactions with people, other dogs, and different environments, helping them develop into well-rounded and confident companions.
  3. Do you offer support or advice for new owners after the puppy has gone home?
Yes, we provide ongoing support for new owners, offering guidance on training, nutrition, and health. If any issues arise, we are available to answer questions and help ensure a smooth transition for both you and your new terrier.
  4. What should I know about AKC registration and its significance for these breeds?
AKC registration ensures that your puppy comes from a purebred lineage with recognized standards. It provides assurance of the puppy’s pedigree and offers eligibility to participate in AKC-sanctioned events, such as shows and obedience competitions.
  5. At what age are puppies ready to be adopted?
Our terrier puppies are typically ready to join their new families between 8 and 12 weeks of age. By this time, they have been weaned, socialized, and have received their first set of vaccinations.
  6. What is the process for matching a puppy with a new family to ensure a good fit?
We take great care in matching puppies with the right families. We consider your lifestyle, activity level, experience with terriers, and the puppy’s temperament. A consultation helps us guide you to the best match, ensuring a happy and fulfilling relationship between the family and the puppy.
  7. What kind of toys or enrichment activities do these terriers prefer?
Terriers enjoy toys that challenge their intelligence and satisfy their natural instincts to hunt and dig. Puzzle toys, treat-dispensing toys, ropes for tug-of-war, and fetch toys are all excellent choices to keep your terrier engaged and entertained.
  8. Is crate training recommended for these terrier breeds?
Crate training is highly recommended for Welsh, Sealyham, and Airedale Terriers. It provides them with a safe, comfortable space of their own, helps with house training, and can prevent destructive behaviors when unsupervised.
  9. What should I expect regarding temperament and training challenges for each breed?
All terriers are intelligent but can be independent and sometimes stubborn. Welsh and Airedales tend to be more eager to please, making training easier with positive reinforcement. Sealyhams are more laid-back but may need extra patience during training. Consistency, patience, and engaging activities are key.
  10. How can I ensure my terrier has a healthy and happy transition to its new home?
Start by creating a calm, safe space for your terrier. Use familiar items like a blanket with the mother’s scent to ease the transition. Stick to a consistent routine for feeding, bathroom breaks, and training. Gradually introduce new experiences and environments to help them adjust.
